Well this has taken me longer than expected but I have finally finished this beautiful antique sideboard!  Here is the before:

And here is the final product:

This was custom painted for a client in Martha Stewart’s Morning Fog, and sanded to a smooth finish.

The top was sanded down to the raw wood and  stained in Minxwax’s American Walnut.

The whole piece was then very lightly distressed and coated in Minwax furniture wax.

It has turned out quite nicely!

The small details are what make a piece special…

I decided to dress the sideboard with greens that remind me of  the springtime for which I am now desperate.  It is very, very cold here this week!

If you have been following along with my Pinterest – Tried, Tested and True series, check back this Friday to see whether or not buttermilk ages the terracotta pots.  These pictures were taken after about 24 hours.

The fresh, light color of the sideboard contrasts beautifully with the dark walnut stain.  I’m ready for a spring tea in the dead of winter!

I love the color of the top with the antique white. I have been trying to decide what to do with a roadside find, and thanks to you, decision made. I hope I have the patience to sand the top down instead of painting it.

LOVELY!!!! My great Auntie Mildred had this exact side board in her dinning room:) All of her furniture went to estate auction. It would have looked really sweet with an up-do like yours! New follow. Follow back http://www.sewsweetvintage.com/2013/01/sweet-heart-pillow-upcycle.html

The sideboard is wonderful. I love that the top is left in the natural wood and the rest is white. I love the moss ball topiary pots!! I have moss balls like that just sitting on little mini galvanized buckets. I need to make them each into a topiary like this!! I love it! :)
